A Bit About the Pattern
This light hearted design is simple yet delightful, perfect for a mindful stitching session. With clean lines and charming details, it’s approachable for beginners while offering creative freedom for more experienced stitchers.
One of the great things about embroidery is that you only need a few simple supplies to get started!
What You’ll Need
Gather a few simple supplies, and you’ll be ready to start stitching:
Fabric (cotton or linen works great)
Embroidery floss - If following my colour choices, I used DMC BLANC, 224, 451, 828, 838, & 3862 (more info below)
Tailors pencil (or your preferred way to transfer the pattern, e.g., heat-erasable pen, tracing paper)
Tracing the pattern onto cotton fabric with a tailors pencil.
Stitching & Colour Guide
Here’s how I stitched my bunnies, but feel free to make it your own!
Body of the bunnies:
Stitch suggestion: Stem stitch to fill in the fur texture - I suggest starting along the curve of the back.
Colour suggestion:
Bunny 1: 2 strands of DMC 3862 with 1 strand of DMC BLANC held together (white flecked fur).
Bunny 2: 2 strands of DMC 451 with 1 strand of DMC 3862 held together (mottled brown fur).
These progress photos of bunny 1 give you a hint on how to approach each section. Apologies for the image quality—some were taken at night as I worked while my bub slept.
Tail, tummy and ears of the bunnies:
Stitch suggestion: Satin stitch for a smooth clean look.
Colour suggestion:
Bunny 1: 3 strands of DMC 224 (pink).
Bunny 2: 3 strands of DMC 828 (blue).
Onto bunny 2, seeing the design come together is very satisfying.
Eggs:
Stitch suggestion: Satin stitch and French knots.
Colour suggestion:
Egg 1: 2 strands of DMC 224 (pink) and 2 strands of DMC BLANC
Egg 2: 2 strands of DMC 828 and 2 strand of DMC BLANC
A close up of the bunnies so you can see the direction if the stitches and the outline details.
Outline details:
Stitch suggestion: Backstitch and French knots for the eyes.
Colour suggestion: 2 strands of 838.
If you haven’t tried these stitches before, don’t stress, they’re simple, and this pattern is a great way to practise.
The final stitches are in! These little bunnies are ready for Easter, such a fun project!
