The Alternating Cable Sock Pattern is a cuff down sock pattern. It features cables that alternate which gives the socks a repeating oval pattern that kind of looks like waves. The heel is a shadow wrap heel but it is easy to switch out to use your favourite heel type as you like. Although this pattern is written for 5 sizes, a chart is provided for suggestions on changing gauge to get your perfect fit.

The yarn that was used in the examples is Fibre of My Being hand dyed sock yarn, colours: Serene Sea, Violet Mist, Autumn Litter, and Soil & Sand.

Materials

Yarn: 4 ply sock yarn

Needles: 2.5mm knitting needles or size for correct gauge �?? 80cm circular needles for magic loop, or DPNs, or whatever best suits your preferred needle for knitting small circumferences in the round.

Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle for Kitchner stitch and weaving in ends.

Gauge: 8.5 sts x 12 rnds = 2.5cm/1�?�.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL) corresponds to circumference around ball of foot 14cm/5.5�?� (16.5cm/6.5�?�, 20cm/8�?�, 24cm/9.5�?�, 26.5/10.5�?�). Need a different size, see pattern notes.

Meterage: Approx. 80 (140, 208, 288, 328) meters.

Pattern Notes

XSmall to fit baby/toddler, Small to fit child and both have 5% neg ease included in the sizing. Sizes Medium to XLarge are adult sizes and have 10% neg ease included in the sizing. Due to this pattern having a 10 st repeat, minimal size options are available. If your size is not listed above, you could try going up a needle size (less sts per 2.5cm/1�?�) or down a needle size (more sts per 2.5cm/1�?�) to get a different gauge to still fit these socks.
